How to Study in Uzbekistan as an International Student

She is going to tell you how much it costs to buy a house here.
Learning English is interesting, and even learning a little can help a lot for students.“Foreign…”

“Just send us the offer later and also the documents, since we don’t have them yet. Where did you do the interview—at the embassy?”

“No, not at the embassy. It was online.”

“What is the name of your university?”

“It is Silk Road International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage.”

“Silk Road… Silk Road… okay. Not Information and Technology?”

“No, no. It is the University of International Tourism.”

“Alright. Did you pay for the interview?”

“No, it was completely free. No payment.”

“So the website name is the same as the university: Silk Road International University of Tourism.”

“Alright. So you take those documents and go to the consulate or embassy. But it depends on the country; I’m not sure about your country. For me, they said that since we don’t have an embassy in my country, they applied through another system and gave me a document that allowed me to get a visa directly at the airport.”

“Oh, so the university prepared everything for you and you came directly?”

“Yes, that’s true.”

“How much are the normal fees in your university?”

“I have no idea because I am studying on a scholarship.”

“So maybe it’s written on the website.”

“And how long have you been here?”

“We are the same.”

He studied German linguistics and has already graduated.

I asked him how much one person can earn here.
For example: What is the average salary of a waiter or a normal worker?

He said he is tired, but gave the information.

He earns 500,000 soum but he only opens his shop three days a week.
But I was asking about the general situation, not about him.

In normal restaurants in this city, a waiter earns 80,000 to 150,000 soum per day.

They usually get one day off per week, which is Sunday.
But the off day is not paid.
It’s a daily wage system: No work, no money.
This is for restaurants.

“What about government jobs? How much salary do they give?”

When students work in restaurants, they earn less—maybe 70,000 soum per day.
But when they finish university and get a proper job, the salary is higher.

We asked many questions, maybe too many.

She also explained about renting a house.
For a two-bedroom apartment inside the city, the price is not very high compared to other countries.

If you work in a good company and learn English — especially with a little American accent — they can give you a very good salary.
People here are crazy about IELTS.
If they see you speak English well or teach English, they treat you like a celebrity.
They will say: “I want to join your class! I want to learn English!”

So if you are good at English, come to Uzbekistan and teach people — you can earn good money.

It is the same in Kyrgyzstan. People are obsessed with IELTS.
Everyone wants to go abroad.
It is very popular in India and Pakistan too.

We joked that Indians and Pakistanis are everywhere.
This is my 15th country, and everywhere I go, I find Indians and Pakistanis.
Even in the Philippines I met them — some have businesses there.

There are medical universities in the Philippines too, but I didn’t meet many students there.

So guys, this was an interesting topic, so I decided to record it and share it with you.

We talked about Dubai, politics, websites, and more.

Next, we asked about salaries for shop helpers or salespeople.
They usually earn 150,000 to 200,000 soum per month (around 20 dollars).

Days off depend on the workplace.
Since it's a Muslim country, on holidays there are more days off.
But normally it's 2 days off per month.
Labour workers sometimes get only one day off, usually Sunday.

In my university, there are many students from Pakistan, Bangladesh, and India.
Some of them receive 600 USD per month scholarships from Uzbekistan.
The university pays them.

I know some couples who receive 5,200 USD together — we always joke that they are the richest people in the university.

To apply for scholarships, the best way is to search on Google for foreign universities offering scholarships.

That is why many people move to GCC countries later.

Uzbekistan is one of the cheapest countries.
