5 surprising facts about Uzbekistan

The cheapest country In The World?

If you have never heard what Uzbekistan is, let me tell you a few facts about this country. First of all, it is a Muslim country.
Second of all, they speak Uzbek language, which is similar to Turkish language because it has the same third base.
Fact number three: all the cars in Uzbekistan are Chevrolet because it's a big monopoly, and the government has a contract with Chevrolet, and all the cars they produce here are branded as Chevrolet. Even if they make like Dale Matisse, they still put brandmark of Chevrolet here.

So we're now in the city Asaka, and that's a place where they produce and make their only car brand in this country Uzbekistan, which is Chevrolet. Only in the capital in Tashkent you can find some other brands by very rich people who are able to bring cars from abroad.

Fact number four: people in Uzbekistan are very hospitable. They always invite you. They always want to make a plot for you. Uzbek plov is a famous national dish, so if this Uzbek person tells you, “Come, I want to make Uzbek plov for you,” it means they're very happy to see you. If you come to their place, they would expect you to stay overnight, especially in a village.

Fact number five: in Tashkent, in the capital, everybody speaks Russian. Even local people—they might not even know Uzbek language. In the villages they don't speak Russian; they only speak Uzbek language, and it's very hard to communicate with them because their English is not so good.

In 1950s there was a big earthquake in Tashkent, in the capital of Uzbekistan, and the whole city was destroyed to Asia, and in those times it was still a Soviet Union, so the whole country put all the effort to very quickly rebuild the city, and all the kids of Uzbekistan who were left alone or all the families, they were sent all over the Soviet Union regions. And that's how nowadays around Moscow there are more than 5 million Uzbek people still living there.

So hot here that there is even Russian saying that says it is hot as in Tashkent. Last days it was plus 60 here; we were literally melting at home. Today's plus 40 and we say it's finally fresh so we can take a walk because it's very hot. All kinds of fruits and nuts are growing here. But basically this is a desert—only mountains there, rock mountains, no trees or forest because it's too hot for plants to grow themselves.

There are some cities I would recommend you to visit if you come to Uzbekistan. First is the capital Tashkent. Second is Samarkand. All these cities, they're very famous, very beautiful architecture and very old history. Kokand is a capital of tourism of Central Asia this year, very beautiful city, as big as Tashkent and worth visiting for sure. Has a lot of historical buildings, big mosques, museums.
